Fonta Flora Brewery integrates the soul of agriculture with the artisanship of zymurgy to create a menagerie of rustic and savory libations. In business for four years and counting, we take pride in the utilization of local agriculture and foraged ingredients in the creation of our beers. With the recent purchase of an 8.5 acre historic dairy farm, we are looking for a unique individual to help with the cultivation of our land as we continue to create distinctive “Appalachian” style craft beers.
We are looking to add an extremely part-time farm worker/land maintainer at our Appalachian farmhouse brewery. As a full disclaimer, we currently have zero land tilled for this project. Under the guidance of our head brewer, this person will establish and maintain annual gardens and perennial fruit orchards. The work will be diverse, ranging from plot selection, crop planning, planting, weeding, irrigation, harvesting, washing to packing produce and ultimately any task that arises on the land. This candidate should be a self-starter, motivated, open-minded and be willing to tackle any farm/land related task. Previous farming/gardening experience is a must.
SHORT TERM OBJECTIVE
To establish an annual and perennial agricultural program which will result in ingredients that can be directly used in the creation of Fonta Flora beers.
To grow ingredients for the creation of additional, value-added, acidified food products such as krauts and kimchis. In addition, we hope to develop a small farmers market on our land where excess fruits and vegetables can be sold to the Lake James community.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
The immediate for this position will be 1-2 days per week and will hopefully grow into a full-time position. With that, this position is SEASONAL and will run from February-November. Starting pay is $12/hour and will also include beer and any excess fruits and vegetables.
Qualified applicants should fill out the application below. Please do not call or drop in about this position.
