aSSISTANT TAPROOM Manager

Job Title: Taproom Manager

We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Taproom Manager to lead our service team and support the beverage operations of our Morganton + Nebo, NC taprooms.

JOB PURPOSE

The taproom manager will be responsible for all aspects of the taproom operations. The taproom manager’s work week will consist of administrative duties as well as serving as manager on duty as needed between the two locations. The individual should demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and exude hospitality toward guests while also nurturing a positive environment amongst bar staff. The ideal candidate will cultivate relationships with current and potential patrons during regular taproom service, special events, and retail events. The position will require flexible availability for day, evening, weekend, and event coverage. Target work week will be Tuesday through Saturday, pending special events and holidays.

 

A successful candidate for this role will be heavily focused on guest experience and team leadership. previous experience as a food and beverage leader, with bar-specific experience is required. The individual should possess the ability to communicate the Fonta Flora story and educate both bar staff and customers about the beers we produce. In addition, the taproom manager must possess attention to detail in order to complete administrative tasks, hold staff accountable, and provide an excellent taproom experience.The taproom manager is tasked with formulating out-of-the-box ideas to grow sales revenue and bolster our taproom culture and experience.

 

The primary focus of the taproom manager is to ensure that the taproom experience is nothing short of exceptional. A successful candidate will ensure smooth taproom operation by appropriately staffing the taprooms while ensuring that the bar staff has everything needed to successfully and efficiently complete their tasks. They will ensure that the taproom environment is comfortable, our beers are presented at their highest quality, and that unforeseen needs are addressed quickly. The Taproom Manager is also responsible for ensuring that customers have a positive experience during their visit and that bar staff are trained to represent our brand at all times.

ERRDAY JOB TASKS 

 

  • Assist in management of taproom staff; including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and directly supervising. 
  • Passionately provide consistent, exceptional customer service, while utilizing knowledge and integrity to manage and grow taproom staff.
  • Assist in development of taproom staff training procedures with administration and deliver new employee trainings. 
  • Manage taproom general day-to-day operations, including pouring beer, floating on the floor to engage with customers, maintain taproom stock and inventory.
  • Open and close service in accordance with taproom operating procedures.
  • Assist in oversight of the point-of-sale system, open and close cash drawers, petty cash and deposits weekly.
  • Work with Tasting Room Manager to manage all taproom beer, merchandise and stock.
  • Work with Tasting Room Manager and upper management to develop continuing education and sensory training for staff.
  • Ordering of supplies for tasting room, including (but not limited to) wine, cleaning supplies, and snacks.
  • Engage with all customers, new and the “regulars”, and gather service feedback
  • Educate customers about our beer and the processes behind its production.
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment, while identifying and recommending corrective actions for safety issues.
  • Ensure taproom employees consistently apply all critical procedures and abide by legal compliance.

  • Ability to generally be “on-call” during peak seasons, for tasting room issues, and special occasions.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in bartending, and the proper knowledge of how to perfectly pour a beer.
  • Management experience preferred; demonstrated management capability required.
  • Experience in the brewing industry or home brewing preferred; knowledge of, and love for, craft beer required.
  • Certified Beer Server through the Cicerone Program. If not currently, you will be required to complete within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Must possess an exceptional work-ethic and character, as well as great communication and leadership qualities. Must be a team player.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to tap kegs.
  • Able to move and assist moving kegs/picnic tables/umbrellas.
  • Able to steadily carry trays of drinks and empty glassware for cleaning.
  • Mentally capable of handling occasional high stress scenarios, as well as large groups of people.

COMPENSATION:

  • Hourly bartending wage plus tips and hourly management rate, as well as glorious beer! 
  • Healthcare Reimbursement of up to $300 per month for eligible full time employees who have purchased a plan through the marketplace at their own expense with after-tax dollars.
  • Each full time employee will be given 80 hours of paid time off during their first year of employment and will be accrued on a prorated basis. Full time employees earn an additional 8 hours of PTO each subsequent full year of employment.

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a professional and organized Line Cook to prepare food to the Chef’s specifications and set up stations for our seasonally changing menu. The Line Cook will work with other team members in the kitchen to execute dishes and assist the Kitchen Manager/Chef  with their daily tasks. Successful candidates will be organized, self-motivated, and have problem-solving abilities.The successful candidate for this role will also be focused on food preparation and execution, customer service and ticket time management.

We are currently seeking a part-time Bartender to serve our delicious beverages and tell the story of Fonta Flora while extending all the hospitality and welcome feels to our guests.

Job Purpose

Our tasting rooms are a key part of our success as we’re able to showcase our beer, our history, culture, and our brand with patrons and turn them into loyal fans. Our bartenders act as our brand ambassadors when they are working in the taproom and should be knowledgeable about craft beer and our brewery, attentive and focused on providing the best possible experience for our guests in a fast-paced environment.

 

To be a successful bartender at Fonta Flora, one must work with other bar teammates to ensure that our guests receive prompt and seamless service. Our bartenders practice proper beer pouring, take part in cleaning, setting up and breaking down the bar, maintaining and stocking clean glassware, stocking packaged beer, changing kegs, and taking on other duties as assigned to support the Taproom Manager and ensure that the taproom operates smoothly. 

Prior craft beer (bartending) experience is a plus, but not a requirement. What is a requirement is a passion for learning about craft beer, enjoying working as part of a team, being efficient, reliable, trustworthy, and perceptive with excellent communication and time-management skills.

ERRDAY Job Tasks

  • Opening and closing duties, such as restocking the to-go cooler, setting up/breaking down taps, and ensuring the bar has clean towels, glassware, merchandise, etc.
