Job Title: Taproom Manager

Location: Morganton + Nebo, NC

FLSA Classification: Status: Full Time / Non-Exempt

Reports To: Senior Leadership Team

We are currently seeking a full-time Taproom Manager to lead our service team and support the beverage operations of our Morganton + Nebo, NC taprooms.


The taproom manager will be responsible for all aspects of the taproom operations. The taproom manager’s work week will consist of administrative duties as well as serving as manager on duty as needed between the two locations. The individual should demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and exude hospitality toward guests while also nurturing a positive environment amongst bar staff. The ideal candidate will cultivate relationships with current and potential patrons during regular taproom service, special events, and retail events. The position will require flexible availability for day, evening, weekend, and event coverage. Target work week will be Tuesday through Saturday, pending special events and holidays.


A successful candidate for this role will be heavily focused on guest experience and team leadership. previous experience as a food and beverage leader, with bar-specific experience is required. The primary focus of the taproom manager is to ensure that the taproom experience is nothing short of exceptional. Staff Management

  • Management of taproom employees (Assistant Taproom Manager, bartenders, barbacks), including: hiring, training, scheduling, communication, performance feedback, and accountability for standards not met

  • Responsible for purchase, maintenance, and inventory of current and essential taproom furniture and equipment (picnic tables, umbrellas, heaters, etc.)
  • Ensuring proper opening and closing of the taprooms (setting up and closing down cash drawers, ensuring that the taproom is clean and ready for patrons, restocking/ordering any necessary supplies, addressing any unforeseen needs, etc.)
  • Responsible for maintaining proper draught list and taproom inventory of beer (and other Fonta Flora products) for resale by placing weekly orders 
  • Responsible for organizing and moving kegs and cans on a weekly basis (up to 165 pounds)
  • Responsible for ensuring all beer lines are clean in collaboration of the Assistant Taproom Manager

  • Responsible for working with Charlotte Taproom Manager for ordering and maintaining adequate levels of glassware inventory between all taproom locations
  • Solely responsible for planning and executing recurring taproom programming events such as Trivia, Bingo, Karaoke, etc. alongside Event Coordinator and with guidance of Head of Brand. Includes, but not limited to, vendor communication and scheduling, working with Marketing Team on promotional materials, being on-site to ensure smooth execution of events, informing bar staff of event details, and assuring payment is secured
  • Executing public events alongside Event Coordinator and Head of Brand by staffing appropriately, creating a draught menu(s), preparing bar(s) for service, informing bar staff of event details, and making sure communication is flawless between all involved parties
  • Work with Event Coordinator on executing private events by ensuring they are properly staffed and all event details are communicated with bar staff. Additionally, Taproom Manager will work with Event Coordinator to order and maintain event draught and to ensure the event beer is properly inventoried
  • Solely responsible for the preparation, staffing, and execution of Off-Premise Retail Beer Sales Events (TGIF, Oyster Outing, etc.)
  • Tirelessly making sure that taproom patrons’ needs are met quickly and efficiently

Administrative Tasks

  • Consistent communication with the Fonta Flora team, SLT, fellow admin staff, Assistant Taproom Manager, and bar staff

  • Working with the Marketing Manager and Head of Brand by submitting promotional requests to properly market the taproom and taproom sales (pertaining to Social Media, website updates, promotions, etc.)
  • Responding to customer reviews, problems and or complaints whether in person or via Square, Yelp, Google Business page, etc. Responsible for following up with customers and bar staff should the business receive a less-than-favorable review. Using judgment on disciplinary actions pertaining to staff, and customer service needs of patrons
  • Maintain and update seasonal and holiday business hours via Yelp and Google Business pages for Taproom locations. Communicate with the Marketing Manager to ensure hours are updated and shared on social media platforms (ex. Facebook Business hours, updated posts on Instagram and Facebook). Update physical hours signs on Taproom doors.

    The Kitchen/Chef Manager will be responsible for daily management of our onsite wood fired food trailer operation including: menu creation, recipe execution, ticket time management, guest satisfaction, food purchasing, hiring, scheduling, training of employees in methods of cooking, plate presentation, cost control, and sanitation and cleanliness, to name a few.

    Job Purpose

    The Fonta Flora Delivery Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering all beverages to their proper locations. The position reports to the Logistics Manager, with whom he/she/they will work to ensure all orders are packed and loaded correctly. The Delivery Driver will also be involved with account maintenance related tasks. 


    Fonta Flora Brewery is a small but thriving craft brewery where no job is too large or too small for anyone. All employees are expected to pitch in where needed and to be flexible with changing day-to-day job duties. Candidates must share Fonta Flora’s commitments to quality, safety, business ethics, continuous innovation, local agriculture and our own unique culture. 


    The successful candidate for this role will be comfortable with repetitive tasks, physical labor, and standing/moving for extended periods of time.  The candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and be comfortable driving for extended periods of time while utilizing GPS mapping technology.
