A Decade Under The IPA
a celebratory india pale ale dry-hopped with 10 different hops, selected by 10 different breweries.
Mashed with local barley from our friends at Carolina Malt House along with a dash of dextrin malt, a pinch of flaked oats and a touch of honey malt. Boiled at 120 minutes because Jeremy loves Dogfish Head and also to drive color and additional bitterness. Fermented with our preferred westy house ipa yeast strain. Hopped extra intensely with 10 different hops, selected by ten of our favorite hoppy beer producers. Fermented completely for a decidedly dry finish and cold conditioned for beautifully brilliant clarity.
By far the largest smattering of hops ever used in one of our IPA’s, we wouldn’t normally set out to jam pack a hoppy beer with 10 different varieties of hops. But for this we thought, you only turn 10 once and with that, decided to throw the kitchen sink at it. With each participating brewery obviously representing each year for us in business, we are honored and humbled to be featuring hops selected by some of the folks who have helped inspire our hoppy beer game throughout the years.
With so many different hops all fighting for a spot in the sun, the aroma ebbs and flows between swaths of piney dankness and tropical fruits. For us, the nose explodes with Virginia pine needles, nectarine leather, cherry jolly rancher, sun dried pineapple, peach gummy rings and orange creamsicle. If this is what turning 10 looks like, we couldn’t be more stoked for the next decade, under the influence.
