Tasting Room Manager

Job Title : Tasting Room Manager

Reports To : Head Brewer and Administration


Fonta Flora Brewery is currently seeking a self-motivated beverage professional to join our team as tasting room manager. This position will require an individual who is skilled in bartending, as well as having management experience. As a world-renowned, independent, craft beer destination, we are seeking someone who can handle the ever-growing beer industry, maintain the daily operations of our downtown tasting room, continued self-education, and assisting in the education of the bar staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilies

*Determine the appropriate taproom staff, including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, and directly supervising
*Passionately provide consistent, exceptional customer service, while utilizing knowledge and integrity to manage and grow taproom staff
*Develop taproom staff training procedures with administration, and deliver new employee training
*Manage taproom general day-to-day operations, including pouring beer
*Open and close service in accordance with taproom operating procedures
*Oversee the point-of-sale system; open and close cash drawers, petty cash and deposits weekly.
*Work with Head Brewer to manage taproom beer stock
*Work with Head Brewer and upper management to develop continuing education and sensory training for staff
*Ordering of supplies for tasting room, including (but not limited to) wine, cleaning supplies, and vittles.
*Engage new and regular customers and gather service feedback
*Educate customers about our beer and the processes behind producing it
*Ensure a safe working and guest environment, while identifying and recommending corrective actions for safety issues
*Ensure taproom employees consistently apply all critical procedures ensuring legal compliance.
*Assisting in private events held on site.
*Supervise and assist in the cleaning of the taproom, as well as the stocking and sorting of inventory
*Ensure a positive guest experience, while responding to and resolving all issues during service if necessary
*Ability to generally be on-call during peak seasons, tasting room issues, and special occasions.
*Additional duties may be assigned as necessary

Education, Qualifications & Experience

*Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma required.
*Minimum of 2 years’ experience in bartending, and the proper knowledge of how to perfectly pour a beer.
*Management experience preferred; demonstrated management capability required.
*Experience in the brewing industry or home brewing preferred; knowledge of, and love for, craft beer required.
*Certified Beer Server through the Cicerone Program. If not currently, you will be required to complete within the first 60 days of employment.
*Must live within 50 miles of Morganton, NC or willing to relocate.
*Must be able to work nights and weekends.
*Must possess an exceptional work-ethic and character, as well as great communication and leadership qualities.
*Must be committed long-term to this role and the success of Fonta Flora Brewery.

Physical Requirements

*Able to tap kegs.
*Able to move and assist moving kegs.
*Able to steadily carry trays of drinks and empty glassware for cleaning.
*Mentally capable of handling occasional high stress scenarios, as well as large group of people.
*Compensation : Hourly (bartending wage/Tips/hourly management rate), and glorious beer!
